Police operatives in Ogun State have arrested a commercial motorcyclist and his collaborators who gang-raped an 18-year-old female passenger in the State.
It was gathered that the incident happened at the Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, August 30th.
The culprits whose names have been given as Emmanuel Thompson and Joshua Godwin are at the moment cooling off in police cell.
The state police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident and noted that the culprits are presently cooling off in police cell.
Oyeyemi said the teenager reported that “they forcefully took her to a room in one house in the area, where two other men were waiting for them.
“On getting there, the two men they met in the room and the accompanied male passenger took turns to have sex with her forcefully.”
On receiving the report. the District Police officer of Ogijo division, CSP onanufe Umoh said he drafted his men to arrest the culprits but noted that two other perpetrators vanished into thin air.
“The two arrested suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Lanre Bankole, has directed the transfer of the suspects to the State CIID for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
Bankole assured that the other two fleeing culprits will be arrested in no time and be made to face the consequences.
