A woman, identified as Mrs Chizoba Eke, who was thrown into a ‘ring well’ by her kidnapper has been rescued three days after by the Police in Rivers State.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Mrs Eke, a mother of two, was kidnapped by one Chinedu from her home along with her six months old baby on August 17.
The woman, who was thereafter declared missing by her husband, Mr Eke Eke, was found in the ring well located in an uncompleted building at Igwuruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
While speaking with newsmen, Mr Eke said he was invited by the police to come to identify a baby having lodged a complaint about his missing wife and baby previously.
He said the suspect is known to him in his area as Chinedu, and that the suspect had attempted to rape his wife when she was pregnant.
Mrs Eke, who was in pains, could only murmur the suspect came to her house claiming that her husband wanted her to come to his house to collect some money.
Luck, however, ran out on Chinedu as he was caught by the police on stop and search with the victim’s baby at Omerelu, the boundary between Rivers and Imo State.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Nnamdi Omoni has confirmed the ugly incident.
He said the DPO of Igwuruta Police station informed him that a woman was rescued from a septic tank and taken to the hospital.
According to the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, further details on the matter would be made available to the public as soon as investigation is completed.
TNG reports Mrs Eke is presently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital in the State.
