No fewer than 220 new students have been matriculated into the Kogi State owned Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, for the 2021/2022 academic session.
This set is the second in succession for the institution which began formal admission of students last year.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Salawu Sadiku admonished the students against acts capable of derailing their academic pursuit.
He stressed the need for the students to take their studies seriously and avoid vices such as examination malpractices, insubordination, cultism, gangsterism, religious intolerance and extremism, noting that anyone caught engaging in any of the behaviours would be shown the way out of the institution.
He said, “Today is special in your history as it marks the day you were fully admitted into the university system as undergraduate students. This day will remain a memorable one that would be prominent in your biography.
“Every student is loved, respected and dear to us until he or she proves otherwise.”
He also advised the students to be security conscious as the society is presently faced with security challenges.
The Vice Chancellor further intimated the public that the institution offers various courses to include, “Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Statistics, Computer Science, Cybersecurity Science, Information Technology and Software Engineering.”

Prof Sadiku stressed that the institution was desirous of bringing in new programmes in Environmental Sciences, Management Sciences and Technology in the forth coming sessions.
He then thanked the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his efforts in promoting and sustaining science education for the benefit of the state.
