Omoniyi Olulade Temitope, Councillor representing Ward B, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, has opened up on why he is providing free JAMB forms to 200 candidates who reside in the Local Government.
Omoniyi who is the convener of the Power of One youth conference held on the 31st of October 2021 in Lagos said the future is not about tomorrow but today.
Asked why he is collaborating with the Local Government and other well-meaning Nigerians on the project, he said :”The Power of one is broken into two phases. The first one is to motivate these young ones about the one thing they can do to improve their community and to also become better in life. That is our major aim, the other objective is to bring them together as recipients of our free JAMB forms.
“We will be giving out these JAMB forms in March when it’s close to the examination period. But between now and March, we will have a session with them every month. It’s broken down into modules. The first module is teaching them on time management and how to invest their time properly. We believe that as we do this, we will get them to not just only to read to pass but also to read to succeed in life. The ones who do well in their JAMB will get the opportunity to school in Brazil. We have five slots from an organization.
“We believe strongly that the future is not about tomorrow but today right now. That if we can invest in them now, they will not only be productive for today, but also for the future. We expect that eighty percent of the students will come out in flying colours”.

Urging the youths in Amuwo to shun violence, the executive chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Engineer Valentine Buraimoh at the conference said:” I am a youth too. My advice is that we should shy away from violence, from drugs and from anything that will not give us the right perspective to lead. So when we are given the right opportunity we can lead very well. I hope the youths put everything they have learnt here into practice”.
In the same vein, honorable Mojisola Alli-Macaulay, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Amuwo Odofin, urged young Nigerians to come together to discuss issues that will bring development to the country.
“This conference is really worthy of celebration. Especially coming from our convener, our newest councilor. This is something that is impactful especially for the young people. We have come to a time when we have to sit together as a people to discuss issues that are salient that will bring development to the country entirely so I am really excited about this. Events like this changes the psyche and thought process of young people”.
Young residents of Amuwo Odofin making impact in their various spheres of influence were also given portraits of recognition at the epoch making event.
