Revered Nigerian juju music maesto, King Sunny, turned 74 today.
Born, Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, the Member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a multi-award-winning singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
Veteran actors, Antar Laniyan, Saidi Balogun and Fuji musician, Saheed Osupa have joined others in celebrating the icon.
In an Instagram post, Laniyan said, “Happy birthday to you my adorable father…God Almighty in his infinite mercies and wisdom will grant you many more years in good health and abundant wealth, amen sir.”
In the same vein, Saheed Osupa wrote: “Once in every generation a wonderful singer is born…Happy birthday to the legendary juju_singer…The king of world beat @kingsunnyade70 @king_sunnyade …You shall live to witness many more meaningful and fruitful years on the earth surface sir. I wish you long life and prosperity Baami, Adegèye.”

Saidi Balogun also poured praises on KSA: “Happy birthday king Sunday Adeniyi (Sunny Ade) M F R, the Guitar wonder man keep smiling in success Sir,” he wrote..
KSA introduced the pedal steel guitar, synthesizers, clavinet, vibraphone, tenor guitar into the juju music repertoire.
Sunny has collaborated with major artists such as Manu Dibango (Wakafrika) and Stevie Wonder (who played harmonica on Aura), as well as younger Nigerian artists such as Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and Bola Abimbola.
