Yvonne Jegede shot into limelight when she starred in 2face Idibia’s ‘African Queen’ music video
After her university education in Cyprus, she found it difficult to penetrate Nollywood. She then synergized with rising actor, Bolanle Ninalowo who boosted her confidence. Before she got married, they were rumours about her dating Yvonne. The rumours were triggered by their pictures littered on the internet which showed them hugging each other and holding hands.
Yvonne who is now married, recently recounted how she overcame that phase in her life.
Speaking in a chat with The Beverage Room, she said:”Bolanle Ninalowo is one person who changed my life. He made me see things a lot more differently. Believe it or not, he helped me gain more confidence. I met Nino at a time where I had just finished school in Cyprus. That’s when he came into my life. He kept telling me ‘Choco you are beautiful, don’t worry you’ll be successful, you’ll be the biggest in the industry, don’t worry, we are in this together.
“ He also started taking me to the gym. We started working out together and coming up with strategies to help our careers. We took the strategy very seriously. We even had a board where we wrote our plans down. All that social media frenzy, hugging, holding hands; all that was part of the strategy. We had a board where we planned out when to hug, hold hands on the red carpet and the like. Everything was properly planned out. You know he came from America and over there they take branding very seriously. He personally branded himself to where he is now. I’m very glad that I was the person he felt he should pair with. He rightly felt that it would be beneficial to the both of us. I was returning to the industry and I needed a big break and he needed to be out there and to be known. People would keep asking ‘who is this guy that Yvonne Jegede is always hanging out with?’ He is someone that even if you don’t see him with me, you’ll definitely notice him” She said.
