CCTV captures moment SA rapper, AKA was shot dead (VIDEO)

Hours following the death of the South African rapper, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known professionally as AKA, a CCTV captured the moment he was shot dead.

AKA was killed along with his close friend, the chef and entrepreneur Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane on their way to a nightclub for a performance as part of his birthday celebration.

A CCTV around the premises on Florida Road, Durban, South Africa, showed the moment the rapper stepped out with a couple of friends before the attack.

The suspects came out of nowhere and shot AKA and his friend at close range multiple times before taking on their heels. The motive of the killing is being investigated.

Prior to his passing, the 35-year-old shared on social media about his upcoming album, “Mass Country,” which is slated to be released in the coming weeks.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) had earlier reported that AKA was shot dead outside a popular restaurant on Florida Rd in Durban.

According to ALS paramedic, Garrith Jamieson, explained that just after 10.15 pm on February 10 evening, they responded to a shooting incident where two men sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

“On arrival, paramedics met total chaos and a scene where two men, believed to be in their late 30s, sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics assisted the men and unfortunately, the first male had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and showed no signs of life and was declared deceased at the scene,” Jamieson said,

He said a second male, believed to be a bodyguard, was found in critical condition and died despite advanced life support intervention due to extensive injuries.

It remains unclear what the motive for the shooting was. SAPS and Metro were on scene and closed the road to assist with the investigation.

AKA was among SA’s best rappers and has produced and written many hit songs including Fela In Versace, Baddest and others since he broke into the industry over a decade ago.

He shares a daughter, Kairo, with DJ Zinhle and was in a relationship with rapper Nadia Nakai.
