Nigerian comedian and OAP, Justice Nuagbe better known as Ushbebe is not happy that comedians are being restricted when it comes to performing their duties as social commentators. Making reference to budding comedians who were recently arrested by the police over a satirical skit , he said the comedians were only making fun out of the situation.
He made this declaration in an interview with Hip TV.
Hear him:” We play too much with culture and tradition I think that is what is affecting our society. We have too many sentiments on religion and this is also affecting our economy. I heard the other day that they arrested some comedians because they were putting up a satire. That’s comedy. You are arresting people because they are trying to make fun out of a situation, it doesn’t make sense. This is comedy business. Comedians yab people like Obama , who you be? We are Africans so freedom of speech is limited. It should not be that way, comedians should be given the freedom to talk.
When asked if he is part of those involved in the popular Ponzi scheme MMM, he said: ”I didn’t do MMM, I did one years back and 32,000 got missing because I didn’t follow through”.
