Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, US singer and rapper, has said the change of his middle name.
The 51-year-old media mogul posted a picture of his driver’s licence on his Instagram page on Monday, wherein he said that he has dropped “John” as his middle name.
He complemented the post with another photo of himself writing “Love” inside a heart alongside different versions of his signature.
“Look what I just got in the mail today… it’s official!!! Welcome to the love era,” he wrote.
According to reports, the Grammy award winner first filed a petition in Los Angeles in 2019 to change his middle name to “Love.”
To further confirm the development, the music producer also shared an extract from a court document, dated January 21, 2020, in a follow-up post on Tuesday.
“Imma need y’all to take me seriously on this one!!! #TheLoveEra LOVE,” he wrote.
In November 2017, the ‘I’m Coming Home’ crooner had in a statement announced that his middle name will be changed and would prefer to be called “Brother Love”.
A few days later, the rapper, however, retracted the statement, insisting that he was only joking.
“Due to the overwhelming response to the media out there, and just to not wanting there to be any confusion, I was only joking. I didn’t change my name,” he had written.
“It was just part of one of my alter egos, and one of my alter egos is Love.
“To set the record straight, because I have a lot of press to do in the next couple weeks, you can address me by any of my older names, but if you still wanna call me Love, you can call me Love, baby. But I was only playing.”
