Outspoken actress, Dayo Amusa has said she doesn’t want to be labelled as a Yoruba actress. Though Amusa started out in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood, the role interpreter and singer has said she doesn’t want that label.
““I want to believe that there is room for improvement in everyone’s life at every point. Also, I am an actress; not a Yoruba actress. Although I got my recognition from the Yoruba sector of Nollywood, it doesn’t make me a Yoruba actor. This is not even my first English movie; I produced Pathetic last year”, she told Punch.
Dayo who recently unveiled a movie titled ‘That which binds us’ also opened up on the reason Mercy Aigbe, Uche Jombo and Desmond Elliot were conspicuously missing at the premiere, despite playing significant roles in the movie.
“I didn’t do a movie premiere; it was just a cinema opening. The other actors (Mercy Aigbe, Uche Jombo and Desmond Elliot) couldn’t make it due to their tight schedules. I understood that and I didn’t take it to heart. After that Friday, they were in cinemas for the ‘meet and greet’ sessions with fans. If you go through my Instagram page, you will see their photos. But on Friday when the movie went to the cinema, they had other commitments.”
