A female officer of the Nigerian Army, P.P Johnson, who was reportedly kidnapped earlier by some unknown gunmen on Monday, has been rescued.
The soldier was kidnapped and stripped by her assailants.
In a video made by her abductors, one of the gunmen was heard vowing to deal with all serving personnel of the armed forces.
He also said his group was different from the Indigenous People of Biafra, saying that they wanted to secede from the country.
He said, “This is information for all of you still in the Nigerian military. That is all of you will be dying one by one. Today December 26, we are in Enugu, we will fight against our enemies, this is how we will deal with you that are still in service. These are unknown gunmen, we have nothing to do with IPOB. What we are after is Biafra, whether they like it or not, we must get our freedom.”
However, a signal from the military on Thursday said the mastermind of the incident had been arrested.
It read: “At about 2: 20 pm on Dec 29, 2022, security forces rescued Lt. PP Johnson who was abducted by gunmen and taken to a forest bordering Enugu State and Ihube in Okigwe Local Government Area Imo State on December 26, 2022.
“The mastermind of the kidnap has also been arrested by security forces while efforts are ongoing to arrest the others. The situation is still being monitored at the moment. Video attached.”

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) gathers that normal activities were ongoing when the hoodlums invaded the area around 9.05pm on Tuesday.
The gang was said to have attempted to dispose Nnamdi of his mobile phone before stabbing him in the neck and ribs.
It was learned that residents, who saw Nnamdi lying on the ground in a pool of blood, rushed him to the Ebute Metta General Hospital for treatment.
However, despite attempts by a doctor to rescue Nnamdi, he succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the attack.
It was gathered that the case was reported at the nearest police station and policemen were detailed to the crime scene.
