Top Nigerian celebrities have taken to social media to celebrate Funke Akindele, the Nollywood actress and producer, as she turns 47.
Although the actress has yet to make a post to mark her new age, some colleagues have flooded Instagram with heart melting messages to the pacesetter.
Controversial crossdresser Bobrisky, via Instagram, described the star actress as his sweetest sister, revealing that Akindele came through for him when he needed her the most.
He wrote: “Happy birthday to my sweetest big sis @funkejenifaakindele . I love you today and will continue to always love you sis. I remember how you came through for me and you sent me 2,500,000 when i needed you. God bless you mama 💕💕💕. As we all are celebrating you today celebration will not stop in ur life. Amen”
Tobi Makinde, on the other hand, described the actress as a queen and paragon, noting that she has constantly set the pace and surpassed each milestone.
He wrote: “Happy birthday to a Queen and paragon! @funkejenifaakindele You set the pace and constantly surpass each milestone, and this is a reason to celebrate today. God bless you and the works of your hands ma. As you step into a new chapter, more doors shall be open to you in Jesus’ name.Enjoy your day ma”.

Iyabo Ojo, via her Instagram, penned a heartwarming message for her colleague, noting how, despite life’s ups and downs, Funke keeps winning.
She wrote: “Happy birthday, Ore mi aka Jenifer @funkejenifaakindele. I’m so proud of the person you’ve become and all you’ve achieved. Through life’s ups and downs, you keep winning. I pray God grants your heart’s desires and fills your life with joy and success. I wish you a wonderful birthday and an amazing year ahead!”.
For Eniola Badmus, the actress cum civil servant, took to her Instagram page to wish her longtime friend a happy birthday. She prayed that Funke’s new age would be filled with joy and blessings and that God would continue to guide and protect her.
She wrote: “Happy birthday Lafunky……….May your birthday be filled with joy and blessings, I pray that God continues to guide and protect you, bringing you peace, love, and happiness in the years ahead and may you always feel His presence in your life. Happy Birthday @funkejenifaakindele”.
The talented Nollywood star Funke came into the limelight when she starred in the 1998 family sitcom ‘I Need To Know’.
She rose to prominence for her role in the 2008 comedy-drama film ‘Jenifa’, which received four nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2008. It also earned her the nickname ‘Jenifa’.
In 2015, she premiered the ‘Jenifa’s Diary’ series. The sitcom documents the life of Jenifa, a school dropout turned hairdresser.
She has since then been featured in hundreds of Nollywood movies with several nominations and awards to her credit.
