Afro-pop singer, Adekunle Gold has shared his opinion about the controversial comment made by Simi, his wife, on homosexuals, saying he doesn’t condone homophobic behaviour.
TheNewsGuru recalls that Simi had apologized to the Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community after she claimed, on her vlog, that homosexuality wasn’t natural as believed.
The record producer, who recently birthed her first child with Gold, was thereafter dubbed homophobic by LGBT activists. A number of the activists also took to social media platforms to slam.
Reacting in response to the controversy, Gold stated that he isn’t in support of his wife’s comments. He, however, apologized on behalf of Simi.
“I’m aware of the commotion online today and wanted to clear some things up. I am not a person who supports any kind of hate, period. I don’t agree with homophobic behavior,” Gold wrote.
“I’m cool with every human being and I love all my fans, regardless of who they love or what they identify with. The timing of my wife’s apology was a pure and simple coincidence.
“She had no idea about this or any interview whatsoever. She’s a beautiful, kind, and loving person, who like us all, has made mistakes. I hope you consider her apology and give her a chance to grow.
“I’ve been upset by how much criticism and bullying a young editor trying to do something positive has been receiving. Bullying has no place in our society.
“Also, for those questioning, I have never contacted any publication about a feature, I have a PR team who handles all my media relations. Quazar is a groundbreaking magazine.
“So I agreed to do an interview and cover issue with them. To all my fans, from all backgrounds and walks of life, if you know me then you know Love is the only way forward.”
