My name is Sophia Omotosho and my stage name is Sophy-Yah, I am a Christian and a gospel artiste.I got born again when I was 13 years old
 
 
Deciding to become a gospel artiste
I decided to become a gospel artiste because it is one of the things the Lord has called me to do as his child having given my life to him at the young age of 13. I was severely persecuted for my faith, but the lord sustained and kept me .It was during the course of my persecution that he gave me songs. I have recorded a few of them and am yet to record the rest.
 
Gospel artistes and the media
 
The media doesn’t support gospel artistes like they should. I am looking forward to the day gospel artistes will have much publicity like the secular artistes.
 

Greatest price paid
 
One of the greatest price I have paid for my music career is sticking to doing gospel music, despite having lots of offers .People feel with my beauty, I will do well in the secular music world. I tell them God deserves to use my beauty for his glory.
 
Working with a secular artiste
I can work with a secular artiste If the Lord asks me to . I always pray to get directions from the Lord.
Gospel music is about conviction
I don’t think so, doing gospel music for me is based on conviction and your testimony, when people don’t have that, that’s when you see them start with gospel music and then jump to secular, people like that lack conviction and they don’t have a testimony
