Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo been nominated in two categories for the Yoruba Music and Films Awards (YOMAFA).
On Tuesday, Ojo shared two e-fliers on social media to announce that she had been nominated in the ‘Best Actress 2020/2021’ and ‘Worlds’ Most Relentless Influential Act 2020/2021′ categories.
For the ‘Best Actress’ category, Ojo is up against film stars like Toyin Abraham, Wunmi Toriola, Jumoke Odetola, Eniola Ajao, Mide Martins, and Bukunmi Oluwashina, with the eventual winner to be determined by e-voting.
Other Nollywood stars nominated in the ‘World Most Relentless Influential Act’ category are Mercy Aigbe, Bolanle Ninalowo, Liz Anjorin, Toyin Abraham, Dayo Amusa, and Nkechi Blessing.
TheNewsGuru recalls that Ojo had recently made the headlines after the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) blacklisted her over her social media ruckuses with her colleagues in Nollywood.
The sanction had come amid the dust trailing the claims of sexual assault against Baba Ijesha, its embattled member, who Ojo has openly opposed since his arrest.
As a result of this occurrence, TAMPAN had also directed all directors under its guild to stop from engaging Ojo’s services as an actress.
“Our local chapters are disciplined. If you look at the number of practitioners that are misbehaving now, you cannot count ten. We’re about to have some black sheep. As soon as we detect them, we will know what to do,” it said.
“We have all tiers. We have the local government chapter, in which they have a disciplinary committee, provost. If the LG level cannot get it done, they move to the state with the same officers. They can take it to the national level.
“If it can’t be handled at that level, they go to the national executive council. If need be, the board of trustees can come in. We have penalties. Even if the law says you’re free to practice, we can frustrate you out of the industry.”
