Three years since President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn into office, the Nigerian entertainment sector remains largely funded by showbiz practitioners who are striving to create diamonds from stones.

The administration came into office, riding on the crest of its change mantra to confront the monster that has long undermined the growth of the industry, but the narrative is yet to change as many entertainers still complain about the absence of the required funds and enabling environment needed for them to soar in their sector.

Though the Buhari-led administration has recorded some praiseworthy achievements, the administration has also been beleaguered with some setbacks.

TheNewsGuru went to town over the week to capture the opinions of Nigerian entertainers about how the country has fared under the governance of Buhari.

Though some entertainers unabashedly spoke their minds, others declined comments over fear of being harassed by powers that be.

A lot of things still has to be done- Bimbo Thomas, Actress

I won’t say I am satisfied, because there are still a lot to be attended to.The administration has made some good efforts in certain areas like the anti-corruption campaign going on and the move they are making to make sure the corrupt ones are brought forward for probing. However, I feel there are still so much that needs to be done by the administration that are yet to be attempted, particularly in the area of welfare and the security of the people.

The administration has succeeded in some areas and failed in other areas- Owen Gee, comedian and filmmaker

My opinion is that while this administration has hugely succeeded in the fight against corruption, the same cannot be said as regards basic things for its citizenry like food, good health, roads, security and affordable education. The current recession is still persistent as Nigerians can hardly feed not to talk of paying any form of bills, urgent reforms and policies are needed that make the average Nigerian comfortable and belief again in this administration, we voted on the promise of change but the change hasn’t been positive.

The Buhari-led government performance is poor- Yul Edochie, Actor cum politician

I will rate the performance of the Buhari-led government as very poor

I think the Buhari administration has succeeded- Gt Da Guitarman

I do think the Buhari administration has succeeded. I joke with my friends, saying imagine a man wakes up his wife and tells her:’Baby I want to eat Eba’, and the wife puts water on the fire, the water starts boiling but it has not boiled to the point where Eba can be made. Imagine the man becomes impatient stating that he wants the Eba like that .The wife will use water that hasn’t boiled properly. What you will have is the man drinking garri.

Nigerians are not patient enough with this administration. Rome was not built in a day.I do not expect a man to solve to Nigeria’s problem even in 10 years. A good place to start is to tackle the people who will not want this country to succeed and those are the people the Buhari administration is fighting. I have issues with the killings , the fact that the government hasn’t done anything about them.

Buhari has done very badly- Omalicha Elom- Actress

He has done very badly; he has done more harm than good all in the name of fighting corruption and has increased the numbers of criminals in the country, Fulani herdsmen and co.

President Buhari has failed Nigerians- Bimbo Ademoye

President Buhari has failed the entire nation. He promised change and the only that has changed is our level of frustration. He travels a lot than I go to the kitchen, I love food.No disrespect whatsoever, but he is old, he should go and rest. He needs to leave it for the agile ones who can run the nation properly

I cannot really say much about it- Seun Omojola, Actress and movie producer

To be candid I can’t really say much about it. But from my observation of things 80% of people I know in the last three years have had a dip in their finance, causing them to cut budget of their upkeep in order not to go broke totally. So the economy in shambles. Though that’s not to say few people are not doing well, but many are lacking

I am not impressed with Buhari’s achievements- Ayobami Ladipo, blogger/public affairs commentator

No, I am not in anyway impressed or satisfied with Buhari’s achievement so far.

His fight against corruption doesn’t seem to be productive; rather than we moving forward as a nation economically, we have been going backwards and at other times stagnant in the last 3 years.
In terms of security, terrorism only changed its name, re-branded from Boko Haram to Fulani Herdsmen
The President doesn’t even think he owes us any explanation whatsoever, not even a media pally

He has done his best- Naniboi, movie producer

He has done the best he could have done. One cannot do what he does not have the capacity for.
