As Nigeria celebrates her independence day today, Nigerian entertainers have express their dissatisfaction on the state of the nation.
For Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, he noted that there was nothing to celebrate abut Nigeria, adding that Nigerians are suffering.
““I cannot wish anyone a happy independence when my people are not happy.
“What are we celebrating? Fuel price increase? Electricity tariff hike? Hardship? Bad roads? Killings everywhere?Jobless youths turned beggars?
“The list is endless. Speak the truth, Nigerians are suffering.”
In the same vein, celebrated Nigerian singer, Burna Boy said at 60 we are suffering and smiling. The singer wwas featured on an Arise News programme to commemorate the country’s Independence Day anniversary.
He said:” Theree must be something in place for that to happen (referring to positive change) in Nigeria. It must be in a conducive environment, not one that is so confused like ours.Everybody is so confused now that they see what is wrong, know what is wrong but like Fela said, we suffer and smile.But there is a reason for that. We suffer and smile because that is what we have been taught to be the norm.”
