Sad! Wazobia FM’s Hillary Okechukwu dies of respiratory failure a day after losing job

Hillary Okechukwu, a former member of staff with Wazobia FM, a popular Lagos-based radio station, is dead.

The internet was flooded with reports that the sales executive allegedly took his own life on Friday after the Lagos-based broadcaster had asked him to resign on November 18. But those close to the case insist doctors said he died of respiratory failure.

According to reports, Okechukwu, a star marketer with the radio station, was asked to resign after a panel set up to investigate an alleged case of misappropriation of funds belonging to the company, finalized its report.

Nevertheless In his tribute to the deceased, Bolarinwa Olajide who used to be a colleague of the deceased, wrote: “People are going through a lot, and sacking people unjustly is the last thing an employer should do in these times. A friend was sacked and took his life the following day. Do not test people’s mental health. Nigeria is hard enough. RIP Hilary O.”
