Sexy and in-your-face Akwa Ibom State-born Nollywood actress, Inem Peter is one of the most sought after role interpreters in Nollywood at the moment.
The rear endowed actress who started her journey in Nollywood with a cameo appearance in Wale Adenuga’s Papa Ajasco, has since featured in over 50 movies.
In this interview with TheNewsGuru, she opens up on her passion for acting, worst location experience, amongst other issues.
How did you get into Nollywood?
I got into Nollywood by chance, it wasn’t pre-planned. I accompanied a friend to a movie location to get to see how things were done and then take pictures with celebrities. One thing led to another, my looks created an opportunity for me. The director of that movie gave me an opportunity. That was how my acting journey began. As a matter of fact, I also featured in other movies directed by the said director.
What are the challenges of being an actress?
One of the challenges is that people expect you to be perfect. People look up to you. They think you have everything at your beck and call. They expect more from you. It’s hard.
What has been your worst location experience?
One of my worst location experiences was when I played the role of a medical Doctor. The pressure was much on me to deliver. There was a scene I played with a lot of medical terms. The pressure was much. At a point everyone got tired, including me.
Have you ever been a victim of sex for roles?
Yes sure. It’s a normal thing.
Do you think celebrities should put their relationships in the public glare?
You should only put your relationship in the public glare, if you need public opinions. It’s a matter of choice. If it makes you happy, so be it. Don’t blame anyone the day putting it in the public glare costs you.
What do you think about the injection of sex scenes in movies?
As an actor I will say sex scenes should be in movies only when it’s necessary. From the business point of view we know that producers use these scenes as a medium to sell their movies .They believe the sex scenes will make the movies sell. You know the sex scenes are not real.
Some actresses believe acting does not pay the bills, is that same with you?
Yes it’s same. It doesn’t pay bills. Even an A- list actor will not beat his chest to say ‘only acting pay my bills’
How did you deal with producers that wanted you to compromise in order to get movie roles?
I apply wisdom in everything that has to do with decision making. I let them know that it’s not worth it in a diplomatic way
What has being in the limelight robbed you of?
Being in the limelight has robbed me of many things. It has robbed me of sincere friendship and relationship. Most times, it is difficult for me to know who is a true friend. At times, I don’t know If such individuals love me for being me or they simply love me because I am in the limelight.
Some people are of the opinion that you intentionally flaunt your sex appeal?
This is not true. I don’t even flaunt a large portion of my sex appeal. If I want to attract people sexually, I will flaunt fifty to seventy percent of my curves. Trust, me they cannot handle it
What is your definition of a sexy woman?
A sexy woman is a damsel who attracts everyone with her sex appeal and beauty.
What new projects are you working on?
I am working on a movie titled “Boiling Point”. I have been on this one for a year now, but it’s 98% ready.
