As 25th February 2023 date for the Presidential and National Assembly elections draws near, a veteran Nollywood actress turned politician, Tonto Dikeh, has joined some of her colleagues to solicit support for the Labour party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Tonto, who was nominated as the running mate to Tonte Ibraye, the 2023 governorship candidate of the African Democratic Party (ADC) in Rivers State, took to her verified Instagram page to reveal reasons behind her choice.

Therefore I hereby, willingly give my Unsolicited support to vote rightly for Mr Peter Obi

She wrote: “The upcoming presidential election is one of the most important events in our country’s history. It will determine the future of our nation, and the person we choose to lead us will have a significant impact on our lives.

“Therefore, it is imperative that we carefully consider the qualifications of each candidate and choose someone who has the competence, experience, and an excellent track record. Therefore I hereby, willingly give my Unsolicited support to vote rightly for Mr Peter Obi in the upcoming presidential election slated for 25th February 2023”.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had announced 25th of February as the new date for the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

Consequently, the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will now hold on 11th March 2023.

The presidential election was earlier scheduled to hold on 18th February but the delay in signing of the electoral bill forced the commission to shift the date.

President Buhari signed the Electoral act Amendment bill into law on Friday, 25th February, forcing the commission to shift the date in order to fulfill the electoral act stipulating an average of 365 days between the date the electoral act is signed and the conduct of the presidential election.
