Yesterday night, Wizkid can be compared to a King that was being coronated in his kingdom. The zest and energy exhibited by the fans at the Oniru beach venue of the concert was palpable. If Wizkid had fainted on that stage, the multitude would do whatever it takes to revive him. A certain fan was seen using his face towel to clean the footwear of Wizkid. For him, it was a symbolic way of tapping into the greatness of the singer.

The celebrity world and the mass media are inextricably tied together in a relationship that is both mutually beneficial. Celebrity culture is deeply rooted in the media. The brand Wizkid would not exist without the publicity garnered from the media.

  1. Vocal ineptitude

Everyone knows Wizkid has a melodious voice, but he didn’t make use of it last night. The singer was clad in a red tee-shirt, with a red scarf complementing his outfit.

The delivery of his songs were filled with energy and raw emotions, but the self-proclaimed star boy couldn’t measure up with the energy,as he was unable to hit his notes, missed progressions and didn’t complement the band who were creating melodious grooves for him to jump on.

  1. Disrespecting his fans

As the show was climaxing , Wizzy performed his timeless hit song Ojuelegba.

He told the crowd: “We want to thank baba God for what he has done for us from January to December”.

Thereafter, he got a bottled- water and poured the content into the crowd. Wizkid did this more than once. Some Wizkid die-hard fans wouldn’t read any meaning to that, because they are perhaps intoxicated by his star power. It is not right for artistes to descend to that level of pouring water on a crowd who paid to come and watch you entertain them.

The stampede caused by Wizkid resulted into cases of assault, missing phones , injured fans and lot’s more.

Wizkid has a lot going for him at the moment, he shouldn’t ruin it with these avoidable mishaps
