Truth be told, you will be wrong to call talented songstress,Rose May Alaba a mere appendage of her big elder brother, David Olatukunbo Alaba who is a famous football star.
The melodious singer with the beauty that melts hearts is ready to make waves in the Nigerian music landscape just like she did in Austria.
Rose May has paid her dues and not a flash in the pan.She wrote and performed the theme song of the 2017 Special Olympic World Winter Games.
Her new single ’50-50 loving’ featuring pop star, Mayorkun is one of the Afro-pop songs young Nigerians are ‘vibing’ to at the moment.

“Working with Mayorkun was awesome. The song was produced by Kiddominant. He made the beat and then sent it to me. He asked me to give my opinion and I told him it’s cool. I wrote my chorus and the verse and then sent to him. Thereafter, Mayorkun wrote his verse . That was how it happened.I love Mayorkun as an artiste, I just love his voice, he can actually sing. I just love his music, he give me chills. I just love his vibe”, she told TheNewsGuru.

Talking about her experience in the Nigerian music industry, the goal driven singer said:”It’s been great so far, I haven’t felt any shade or hate. I just feel love and appreciation. Being able to get into the Nigerian music industry with just a collaboration is just a miracle for me”.
Rose May, who was born and raised in Vienna, Austria, doesn’t want to dilute her pop sound with the Nigerian Afro pop sound, she is comfortable in her own vocal dexterity.
Nigerianizing my sound won’t be authentic to me. The music I have been doing so far is pop music and it won’t be authentic to me like switching from pop to Afro sound. There is a very healthy line between Afro sound and pop.I would call my genre of music Afro fusion”.

Asked the inspiration behind her song with ‘Bobo’ crooner, Mayorkun, she said:” The song ’50, 50 loving’ was inspired by Kiddominant. It was actually his idea. He sent the idea to me and I said this will be memorable in people’s minds. It takes two to have a good relationship. You need to have a healthy balance”.
Don’t be surprised If Rose May collaborates with Yemi Alade. The sonorous singer isn’t reluctant to talk about the respect she has for the Johnny sensation.

“I will love to collaborate with Yemi Alade, I love how authentic she is. I love the way she expresses herself, so much energy.”

According to her, she has plans to make 2019 a bigger year for her music brand.
“ I am trying to release an album for 2019 and also trying to do shows for December. I just want to come here and do music and live here in the future because I really love the vibe”.
