Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have been struck by Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection as the club star player, Lionel Messi has contracted the disease.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Messi, who is currently in Argentina, contracted COVID-19 along with three first team players of PSG.
The first team players are Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan Bitumazala, and according to a statement by the club, the players are currently in isolation.
They will obviously not be able to go to Vannes on Monday, for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France. Their presence in Lyon on Sunday January 9 for the resumption of the French championship (day 20) is also uncertain.
“Leo Messi is positive for Covid-19. This is the main information from the medical point announced this Sunday at midday by PSG.
“The Argentine star is one of the four affected players announced on Saturday evening by the club.
“Leo is in contact with the club’s medical service. He is in Argentina. When it is negative, he will come back to us. From that moment on, we’ll see if he can play,” Mauricio Pochettino commented at a press conference on Sunday noon.
