Nigerian Senator who represents Anambra South on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Ifeanyi Ubah on Saturday died in London, United Kingdom.

According to a top official of the APC in Anambra State who pleaded anonymity, the senator slumped in London on Friday and went into a coma.

A close family source said he died in a UK hospital where he went for an operation.

Ubah’s death marks a significant loss for the Anambra South Senatorial District and the entire nation.

Below are important facts about the late Nigerian Senator.

1. Senator Ubah, until death was the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil, a company he founded in 2001, which has one of the largest tank farms for petroleum products storage and distribution in Lagos.

2. In 2021, he contested the Anambra governorship election but lost.  Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won the poll.

3. In September 2022, a group of unknown gunmen made an attempt on Ubah’s life at Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The lawmaker’s convoy was targeted, leaving five persons including aides and security personnel dead. Ubah escaped in his bulletproof vehicle.

4. Earlier this year, Ubah defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and indicated interest in contesting the governorship election of Anambra State next year.

5. Ubah’s death is coming days after his campaign council was said to have donated a total of N71 million to the APC in Anambra State to bolster the party’s presence and strength in the state.
