Veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Pete Edochie, has cleared the air on the decision of his son, Yul, in taking a second wife (Judy Austin), saying “I read the Bible. Solomon, with 700 wives and 300 concubines, was branded a man of wisdom.”
The seasoned actor, while speaking in a recent interview, stated that he did not feel good about his son’s decision since he is a Christian.
However, he stressed that for whatever reason Yul had decided to take a second wife, it was his decision to make.
He said: “I didn’t feel good, but as I said, I’m a Christian and I read the Bible. Solomon, with 700 wives and 300 concubines, was branded a man of wisdom. It’s his choice and for whatever reason he decided to take a second wife, that’s what I can say.”
Meanwhile, Yul expressed shock as he got to know that his marrying a second wife is still a matter for an interview or social media.
In a recent statement, Yul tackled a popular blog for meddling in his marital affair, following his dad’s interview on his marriage to a second wife (Judy).
Yul pointed out that there were other trending issues the blog should focus on, citing the latest trend of Actress ‘Uche Ogbodo and Wizkid’ saga as an example.
He wrote: “My matter still dey ground? Una wan use my own spoil other people own. Allow Wizkid and Uche Ogbodo to trend in peace naa. This is their time.”
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Pete is considered one of Africa’s most talented actors, being honored with an Industry Merit Award by Africa Magic and Lifetime Achievement by Africa Film Academy.
Although a seasoned administrator and broadcaster, he came into prominence in the 1980s when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in a Nigerian Television Authority adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all-time best selling novel, Things Fall Apart.
Pete descends from the Igbo people of Nigeria and is a Catholic. In 2003, he was honored as a Member of the Order of the Niger by President Olusegun Obasanjo.
