For many years now, Gemtracks Beats has been operating as a freelance marketplace for musicians to buy and sell instrumental beats. This means music producers anywhere in the world can offer their tracks and let singers or media companies purchase them and use them in their own song releases.
The platform offers all genres from pop beats to trap beats.
Founded by DJ Jesse Neo, a singer-songwriter and music producer from Australia, the platform is now set to be released in Nigeria.
“Being a musician has allowed me to travel to many countries,” the Australian said. “One of my favourite countries has got to be Nigeria. I am always blown away by their great music and talented composers. Therefore, I have made it my goal to help get the limelight onto Nigerian musicians.”
As mentioned in Business Insider (Africa), African musicians would be the most to benefit from the platform. Besides buying and selling beats, freelancers are also to create their own offers and services. Some of these services include music mixing, songwriting and even entertainment law.
Freelancers can expect to earn up to ₦ 40,000 and even more, depending on the terms agreed between the buyer and freelancer. This means there is always a win-win for both sides.
“How I see it, this platform is not only helping musicians in Nigeria find fame in the greater world, but also helps them financially as well,” Jesse added, passionately. “There has already been a steady rise of freelancers from other African nations signing up.”
As of 2021, Nigeria has already earned an international reputation for being one of the best countries to outsource to. Most of these jobs are usually virtual assistant, writing and computer programming. But it is apparent music production would be added to the list very soon too.
