The Head of Information of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, who disclosed this on Friday, said a total of 1,698,835 candidates had so far taken the UTME, while the 19,550 were billed for final day, Saturday.

Benjamin, who noted that candidates should disregard some false information that JAMB was deducting marks, added that the board had watched all proceedings at the CBT centres across the country and any infraction would be sanctioned in accordance with the provision of the examination malpractice act.

He said, “The Board has not deducted any marks from any candidate and is not contemplating doing that as it is not a condition for sanction in any of the provisions of the law against malpractice.

Again, we call on all candidates to be mindful of fraudulent characters who will send misleading information to create panic. The Board will be concluding the 2017 examination on Saturday. The Board has conducted examination for a total of 1,698,835 candidates and the remaining 19,950 candidates will be sitting for the last day on Saturday.

Registration has not been extended except for those who had PINs but couldn’t register as of May 5 when we closed registration. This category of Nigerians is allowed to register and a date will be set aside for them to take their examination.”
