A seasoned and grassroots politician in Delta and a House of Representatives hopeful, Raymos Guanah, has vowed to transform Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency if he emerged House of Representatives member in 2023.
Guanah who is a member of the ruling party the All Progressives Congress APC declared that he would change the narrative in his constituency by attracting meaningful and viable development to his people if elected.
Guanah, who recently resigned as an aide to Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, to enable him contest the house of representatives elections, said this in an interview.
He said his desire to contest for the house of representatives election for the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency was borne out of the need to bring succour to his people.
According to him, my people are predominantly farmers and fishermen, they do not have good roads to bring their products to the township, neither are there processing or cottage industries.
“As a member of the house of representatives, I will ensure that they have roads and the infrastructure needed for them to process, and add value to their products.
“We also have perennial problems of erosion which has wiped off some communities and some other communities like Abari, Toru aAngiama, Adodu, Kapadia, Kameta are being threatened.
“I will get the federal government, NDDC, the ecological fund office to show interest in tackling them”.
Guanah further said that the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency has over 30 communities with a huge population of youths.
“There is no higher institution in the area, so after secondary school, most of them don’t go any further. They find pleasure in illegal oil bunkering and other social vices.
“I will attract a federal institution to the area like polytechnic, college of education or school of health technology/nursing.
“Many of those who pass out from secondary schools, are not able to get further education due to the financial positions of their parents.
“I will make sure that my constituents benefit from the various federal government scholarships and grants available.
“With the population of over 140,000 people in the federal constituency, there is no specialist or teaching hospital or federal medical centre to attend to the medical and health needs of the people.
“Most times they go to the FMC in yenagoa, Bayelsa state for treatment. I will attract a federal medical centre to my constituency”, he added.
The APC House of Rep hopeful also said that several of the towns and villages in the constituency needed link bridges over the streams and lakes that abound.
He added that if given the opportunity, he would get the NDDC and other relevant government agencies to attend to them.
He said: “We are riverine and we have lots of swimmers. We also have talented players of football and other sports.
“I will create an enabling environment for them to be exposed to proper training and competitions.
“This is because they are potential representatives of our country and can earn money for themselves without necessarily waiting for government.
“I have started reaching out to the various wards, towns and communities and I am presently compiling a compendium of all graduates and artisans.
“I want to have on my table the number of doctors, engineers, lawyers, teachers, mechanics, hairdressers etc., so that when a vacancy exists in any MDA or company, I will have a ready pool to pick from”.
The house of representatives hopeful however said he would obey the decision of the party on his political aspiration.
He said this was against the backdrop of speculations that the party leadership may prefer a candidate from Bomadi for strategic political reasons.
He explained that as a loyal party man, who believes in the supremacy of the party, his party’s decision on where they want him to be would be obeyed.
He explained that his aspiration was for House of Representatives, Bomadi/Patani Federal constituency, but added that if however the party thinks otherwise, he would have no choice but to go with what the party wants.
According to him, my interest is for House of Representatives to represent the good people of Bomadi/Party Federal constituency.
“However, if the party decides otherwise, I will have no option but to obey the party.
“This is because I’m a great proponent of party supremacy and members’ loyalty to party”.
He added that this was in spite of his consultation with party leaders across the two local government areas making up the federal constituency which had commenced.
