…asks Atiku to reconstitute the Campaign council
…orders a stop to inflammatory press interviews by members
The Peoples Democratic Party PDP Board of Trustees, BoT apparently to douse the tension engulfing the party has moved to get a firm commitment from embattled national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu to resign immediately after the 2023 general election.
TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG) reports this was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a meeting held by the BoT members on Friday to urge the National Chairman as an eminent leader to give a firm assurance that he would resign his position after the 2023 elections.
TNG recalls that the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike led camp had consistently hammered on Ayu vacating the position of chairman to balance the north south dichotomy caused by the lopsidedness in the party.
The board equally demanded that the presidential campaign council should be reconstituted to carry along all members.
The major highlights in the communiqué include:
“To call on all Party leaders and persons close to them, to desist from making further inflammatory remarks or granting press interviews.
“To call on the Chairmen of the PDP Governors Forum to convene a meeting of the PDP Governors Forum without further delay.
“To call on all the leaders of the party to match words with action and where commitments are made to unconditionally fulfill same.
“To urge the National Chairman as an eminent leader to give a firm assurance that he would resigns his position after the 2023 elections.
“In the same vein the BoT Chairman has been authorized to offer apologies unbehalf of all members who feel malign or aggrieved by the public statements made by its members across the country that has sharpen the current division in the party.
“To call on the presidential candidate to review its appointments of members of the campaign council and other advisory appointments to make it all inclusive.
“The BoT will refer some of these recommendations for noting and appropriate action to NEC of our party in due Course.
