Labour Party (LP) candidate for Ankpa, Omala, Olamaboro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, Chief Peter Ameh has urged Nigerians to look out for the party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi as he would win the popular votes in 2023 general election.
The candidate stated this on Monday while appearing at a Media Parley organised in Lokoja by the State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
He disabused the notion by segments of the public who have continued to criticise the party of not having a structure, noting that the term, “Structure” is about having resources and ability to mobilise people, traits that Obi has shown over time.
Chief Ameh who noted that contrary to the belief of other politicians and candidates, rallies organised by Labour Party across the country have proved many doubters wrong.
The LP House of Reps hopeful said his party, having produced a governor at one time and numerous National Assembly members and fielded candidates in various positions across the states, would be a party to beat in the 2023 General Elections.
He explained that the so called structures are the members of the party that are willing to stand with the party at all times.

He said with the turn out of the people who are the actual voters for the Labour party rallies across major cities, a new dawn for NIgerians was upon those that are ready to take their destinies in their hands.
”With the determination of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct credible election using technology, the people who are the structure of Labour party would shock them. We are confident that Obi and LP will win.”
Ameh also promised to create viable and effective constituency offices, where he would interact with his people, collate their demands and know their problems with a view to finding lasting solutions to them among others efforts if elected.
On the ongoing flooding ravaging parts of the country and how legislative functions could address it, the candidate called on lawmakers to factor in activism into their oversight functions.
He advised them to walk into ecological funds and places responsible for these floods to get to the root of the matter for lasting solution.
According to him, the problem with the legislators is that they feel they would be offending some powers if they put real activism into their functions because they belong to the same party.
He enjoined them to copy from other advanced democracies where legislators stage walk outs and demonstrations to ensure the demands of their constituents are met by the executive arm of government.
“So they are waiting for when God will put in the mind of the Executive to do those things when in actual fact, God has already given them the wherewithal to do it by putting them in the position in the first place.”
He urged the government at all levels to see the current devastating effect of flood ravaging some states in the country as a clarion call to build more dams to absorb water from Lagdo dam in Cameron and elsewhere, for agricultural activities and boost food security.
