…says my gov must give account of N432bn loan
…promises to jump start state economy despite huge debt over hang
Gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Gombe State, Muhammad Jibrin Barde has said as true democrats his party does not intend to enter the Gombe Government House through the backdoor.
TheNewsGuru. com, (TNG) reports Barde made this disclosure during an interview in an interview on a national television program when asked about the incumbent’s case over certificate scandal that’s in court.
Responding to whether with the matter in court he intends to gain entry to government House through the backdoor if the present governor loses in court, the former Managing Director of SunTrust bank simply smiled and said:
“The PDP has gone to court to challenge the matter and we can’t discuss such matters here.
“We don’t intend to get to government House through backdoor as anything I say here will amount to subjudice of the court as the matter is still pending in court. So we should Just wait for the outcome of the court’s proceedings.
“The same governor ran and won on the basis of accusations and counter accusations which he levelled against his predecessor that he obtained a N70billion loan.
“As at today same Gombe governor has procured over N430billion loan as against the M70bn he accused his predecessor who never took any commercial bank loan but his own loans are from commercial banks.
“He ran his campaign based on deceits and that is exactly what is manifesting in the state now as the public service is in shambles, N21bn areas of pensions yet to be paid for.
Asked what he intends to do to Gombe economy, Barde said “I will adopt the two stabilisers approach to revamp the economy despite the huge debt overhang.
“I will restructure the loans look for ways and means and get the natural resources of the state to jump start the economy and put them to best use, the businesses that had crumbled we need to put them back on their feet.
“Revive the small scale industries which is the driver of any economy and we go back to agriculture which is the mainstay of Gombe.
“Then we need to come back to the public service and reinvigorate it to survive, these are the two stabilisers I am talking about.
