Mr Usimo Bayagbon, a Special Assistant to former Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, Prof Hope Eghaga has congratulated Mr Emomotimi Guwor on his emergence as the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.
Speaking with newsmen at the Delta State House of Assembly complex on Tuesday, Bayagbon also congratulated Barr Arthur Akpowowo on his emergence as Deputy Speaker of the House.
“The emergence of Guwor and Akpowowo as Speaker and Deputy Speaker underscores the confidence that their colleagues reposed in them.
“I strongly believe in their abilities to work in harmony with the other arms of the State government for the development of our dear State.
“I wish them God’s guidance and protection as they lead their colleagues in the 8th Assembly to champion a vibrant legislative agenda that complements the MORE agenda of the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori,” he said.
Mr Guwor, representing Warri South West in the House, emerged as the Speaker of the 8th Assembly of the Delta House of Assembly following proclamation of the House by Governor Oborevwori.
The 44-year-old was nominated for the Speakership position by Mr Ferguson Onwo (PDP- Isoko South II) and was seconded by Mrs Marilyn Okowa-Daramola (PDP- Ika North East).
All 29 members of the House, including Chief James Augoye, the member representing Okpe State Constituency, took the oath of office, following inauguration of the House.
Congratulating Chief Augoye, Usimo said he believes in the abilities of the former Commissioner for Works to represent the best interests of the Okpe people.
The former Special Assistant also congratulated all the members of House while expressing optimism that the 8th Delta Assembly will be a robust parliament.
