Kidnappers of the 85-year-old Emir of Kajuru (Kaduna State), Alhassan Adamu and provost of College of Agriculture and Animal Science Bakura (Zamfara State), Habibu Mainasara have demanded a ransome of N200 million and N5 million each for the release of their victims.
TheNewsGuru.com, TNG reports that the Kaduna monarch was kidnapped by bandits in the wee hours of Sunday along with 13 of his family members, including two grandchildren.
News of the ransom demand was disclosed by spokesperson of the Kajuru Emirate Council, Dahiru Abubakar on Monday.
According to Abubakar, the bandits also gave assurances that all the victims are in good condition and were not being molested.
He said the council is still appealing to the bandits to release the 85-year-old monarch and his relatives unconditionally, especially giving his fragile health condition.
TNG reports that the provost was abducted at his official residence in the early hours of Sunday with two other persons.
The elder brother of the provost, Nasiru Mainasara said the bandits have been in contact with the family and that negotiations are ongoing for a reduction in the amount demanded.
He however confirmed that some prominent members of the community have told the family to stop the negotiation and assured them of his safe rescue.
The State Police command however denied knowledge of an ongoing negotiation between the family and the abductors.
Spokesperson Mohammed Shehu said the command has deployed search and rescue team to go after the abductors and ensure safe return of the victims.
