Alleged inciting comments: Police set to arraign Lamido in Dutse

Former Governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido has been taken to Dutse, the Jigawa state capital to face trial over his alleged inciting utterances.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that the Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday called for the unconditional release of Lamido, Suswam and others in custody.

It was gathered that heavily armed policemen from the Nigeria Police Force Zone 1, led by a senior officer, escorted the PDP chieftain on the one-hour journey to Dutse.

The convoy had left Kano for Dutse around 5.30am Tuesday morning.

Security has been heightened in Dutse as Lamido’s supporters are expected to demonstrate publicly.

Zone 1 Police Public Relation Officer, Sambo Dasuki confirmed Lamido’s movement to Dutse and trial to follow.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that the ex-Jigawa governor has said he was being Lamido persecuted because of his declaration to join the 2019 presidential race.
