Argentine President, Milei queries Spanish government over Vandalization of Messi’s Ibiza Mansion

Argentinian President Javier Milei has expressed solidarity with star footballer Lionel Messi and his family following the vandalism of their mansion in Ibiza by climate change activists. He called on the Spanish government to ensure the safety of Argentine citizens.

The vandals broke into Messi’s €11 million property on the Spanish island on Tuesday, covering the walls with red and black paint. They also posed in the garden with a banner that read, “Help the planet. Eat the rich. Abolish the police.”

Milei criticized communism, calling it an ideology driven by envy, hatred, and resentment towards the successful, and stated it has no place in a free and civilized world.

According to ESPN, Messi, who purchased the home in 2022 after leaving Barcelona, was not at the property at the time but uses it for vacations. The activists claimed their act of “non-violent civil disobedience” was to highlight the responsibility of the wealthy in the climate crisis and criticize the Spanish government’s inaction. They also alleged that Messi’s mansion was built “illegally.”

Messi, currently an Inter Miami forward, is recovering from an ankle injury sustained during the recent Copa América.
