In a historic moment for Nigerian beauty pageants, former Miss South Africa 2024 finalist Chidimma Adetshina on Saturday was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.
Adetshina, who represented Taraba State in the prestigious event triumphed over 24 other talented contestants to secure the coveted Miss Universe crown.
The event took place at the opulent Convention Center of Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos on Saturday, August 31st.
As the reigning Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma is set to represent Nigeria in the Miss Universe beauty pageant to be held in Mexico later this year.
Beyond the glitz and glamour, Chidimma’s journey after being embroiled in a row over her nationality in South Africa has been nothing short of remarkable.
Born to a Nigerian father and a South African mother with Mozambican roots, Adetshina, 23, withdrew from the South African beauty contest as questions swirled over her eligibility to enter and she became the target of xenophobic online attacks.
Following her withdrawal, she received an invitation to compete in Miss Universe Nigeria.
