The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Joseph Egbunike, who was the head of the Inspector General of Police investigation of Abba Kyari is dead.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports DIG Joseph Egbunike, who was in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, collapsed inside his office and died at the National Hospital in Abuja some two hours ago.
Until his death, Egbunike, who hails from Onitsha, Anambra State, headed the Special Investigation Panel constituted IGP Usman Baba to investigate the suspended head of the Police Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari over money laundering allegations.
Prior to his appointment as DIG in 2020, Egbunike was the head of the Police Finance Department.
The senior police officer holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Accounting degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka as well as a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons. ), B.L., a Masters in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD), and a PhD in Criminology.
