In line with the directive to resign given by President Muhammadu Buhari to his appointees who are seeking elective positions, Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi has finally resigned.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) recalls President Buhari had last Wednesday at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja directed members of his cabinet seeking political offices to resign on or before Monday, May 16, 2022.

Amaechi, whose resignation letter came in on Monday, is among several members of Buhari’s cabinet who have signified interest to contest the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 presidential election.

However, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami SAN, has not tendered his resignation despite today (Monday) being the deadline, as at time of filing this report.

AGF Malami had, in April 2022, declared interest in the Kebbi State governorship race. However, last Friday, he pulled out of the Kebbi State governorship race.
