An Ado Ekiti Magistrate Court on Tuesday ordered a 39-year-old man, Ovie Agaduma, be remanded in the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ado Ekiti, over alleged armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs Mojisola Salau, in her ruling said remanding the defendant would allow the Prosecutor, Insp Bamigbade Olumide, to get legal advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to the charge, Agaduma was reasonably suspected to have committed the offences of conspiracy and armed robbery against one Mrs Modupe Adebayo in the Ajibamidele Area, off Ikere Road, Ado Ekiti on Nov. 27, 2020.
Olumide told the court that on Aug. 26, the court remanded one Simeon Oreva, 23, while Agaduma, a fellow conspirator absconded and was later apprehended in Abuja.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, were contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State and Section 1(3) of the Armed Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The magistrate later adjourned matter till Sept. 30 for mention.
