There was wild jubilation in Kano on Sunday when Muhammadu Sanusi, Emir of Kano, met with district heads in the state.
Emir Sanusi was crowded with people in joyous mood as soon as he ventured outside the main palace on Sunday.
He rode on a royal horse and gesticulated at the crowd who responded with: “You’re the only Emir we know.”
He also met with some district heads, council members, vigilantes, women groups and well wishers who were at the palace to pay homage.
It would be recalled that the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, made a comeback as Emir on Thursday after Abba Yusuf, Governor of Kano, signed the new Kano Emirate Council Law.
The law repealed the 2019 version, which balkanized the Kano emirate into five jurisdictions and was relied upon to depose Sanusi as Emir in 2020.
Despite Sanusi’s reinstatement, some Kano residents are still pledging fealty to Aminu Bayero, the deposed Emir.
The ruling All Progressive Congress at the center has been told not to interfere in the Emirship tussle in the state in order to escalate it.
