Ex-President Jonathan visits Arogbofa family; burial date revealed

Former President Goodluck Jonathan visited the family of his late former Chief of Staff, Jones Oladeinde Arogbofa, on Saturday.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the late Arogbofa, a retired Brigadier General in the Nigerian Army, served as Chief of Staff to Jonathan from 10 February 2014 to 29 May 2015.

Born November 10, 1952 in Oka-Akoko, Ondo State, the former presidential aide died on Saturday February 10 2024 at the age of 71.

Until his death, Arogbofa was the Chairman of the Center for Research, Information Management and Media Development (CRIMMD).

Visiting, Jonathan condoled with the family and expressed sadness over the passing of Arogbofa but thanked God for the life the former Brigadier General lived.

“General Arogbofa was Chief of Staff, who knows why he was appointed. From the day he was appointed, he showed capacity, most especially to the cause of one Nigeria.

“He was so dedicated to service. He was not the character of people who enter into office and all their interests is to grab everything.

“We need people like him but it is unfortunate that he left us so early. We pray to God to give the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” Jonathan said.

The former President had in a condolence message to the family and the people of Ondo State, described Arogbofa as a dedicated and loyal Nigerian who served the nation and humanity to the best of his abilities.

Jonathan described Arogbofa as “a sincere patriot with an enviable record both in public service and the military where he rose to the rank of Brigadier General.

“Gen. Arogbofa was a devoted officer and sincere patriot whose passion and dedication to duty stood him out and reflected in the considerable achievements he made towards the development of our nation.

“He will be remembered for his professionalism, passion for service and commitment to the task of nation-building”.

Arogbofa was born on November 10, 1952, in Oka-Akoko, Ondo, and served in the military before being appointed as Jonathan’s right-hand man from 2014 to 2015.

Speaking, a representative of the family disclosed that progress is being made for the burial of Arogbofa.

“We have been planning and we have held several meetings for the burial of Arogbofa.

“We are trusting God that May 7th, we will have the Service of Songs at the National Ecumenical Centre and 10th we are doing the burial,” the family representative said.
