Former member of the House of the Representatives, Hon Chijoke Edeoga, has emerged the Governorship candidate of Labour Party in Enugu State.
He amassed 81 votes as the sole candidate at the primary election held at Top 10 Hotel, GRA, Enugu, on Thursday.
Hon Edeoga, who was Chairman, House Committee on Information thanked the party for finding worthy in an acceptance speech.
He said offering him its platform to actualise the dream of freeing Enugu people from political buccaneers, shows the vision of LP as a party and promised not to let the party down.
The governorship candidate said, “I am resolved to put the Labour Party in all the wards in Enugu State. I will systematically and carefully dismantle the Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State. If there is anybody in Enugu State to do that I am the one. I have the knowledge and the capacity to do that.
“I was a founding member of PDP and it was not set to humble the Igbo people. I was a founding member of PDP and close.
“We are going to help the PDP to dismantle all its structures in Enugu State.

“I assure you that the vote you cast for me will not be in vain. You have sent me to the market and I will not return empty handed.”
In his address, the Deputy National Secretary and the Chairman, Enugu State Governorship Electoral Committee, Prince Kennedy Chigozie Ahanudu, declared the result of the primary.
He said, “A total of 85 delegates were accredited for the primary election. Out of the 85, a total of 81 delegates voted for Hon Chijoke Edeoga.
“By the powers conferred on me as the Chairman of the Enugu State Governorship Electoral Committee, I Kennedy Chigozie Ahanudu, declared Hon Chijoke Edeoga, having scored the highest number of votes cast he is hereby declared the winner of the Labour Party Governorship Primary election in Enugu State.”
The primary election was sequel to the withdrawal of the former Governorship Candidate of the party, Mr Casmir Agbo from the race.
Earlier, Ahanudu had told the delegates that though there was one aspirant in the primary, however, the party will not impose him on the party, that was why the election was being held.
“We are not going to impose anybody on you. So whoever the delegates elected today will be our choice of governorship,” he said.
