Former EFCC chairman, Bawa loses mother

Hajiya Hadiza Ahmed Bawa, mother of the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, has died.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) gathered that Hadiza died in Abuja on Wednesday night.

At the time of filing this report, the details surrounding her death remain unclear.

Confirming the sad news, Bawa in a brief statement, expressed his grief and noted that ten children survived his mother.

“Yes, it is true I lost my mother,” he stated during a telephone conversation with Daily Trust.

Burial arrangements are currently underway to transport her remains to Kebbi State, where funeral rites are expected to take place later on Thursday.

Abdurrasheed Bawa, who made history as the first civilian to lead the EFCC, was nominated for the position on February 16, 2021, and received confirmation from the National Assembly.

However, he was suspended from office by President Bola Tinubu in July.
