Frustrated protester receives huge donations to sponsor son’s dream

Kind-hearted Nigerians on Friday raised funds to the tune of ₦1.8 million for a protester who lamented bitterly of his inability to support son who dreams of becoming a programmer due to the economic hardship.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Ogwu Chijioke, a protester in Lagos on Thursday lamented how he has been struggling to make his son’s dreams of becoming a programmer a reality.

Chijioke, who joined thousand of other protesters to voice their collective frustration over the harsh economic condition of the country told Channels Television:

“I’m riding from Mile 2, Festac. My son at 13 is a programmer but I can’t even buy data for him to learn more. I can’t even pay for the tuition fees, millions of naira. At 13, he can programme games,” he told the aforementioned publication while clutching his bicycle”.

Speaking further, he said, “My name is Ogwu Benjamin Chijioke. I would rather die on the streets than die at home. I can’t sit down and watch the future of my son go to waste. I know I may not have a future again in Nigeria but my son’s future will not be wasted.”

The video went viral eliciting reactions from Nigerians on social media.

You can feel the passion in his soul, he’s lost hope that life will be good for him but has not lost hope for his son. This is why he is protesting,” social media influencer Morris Monye captioned the video shared on his X handle.

“Hello, guys. I’ve gotten his details,” Monye wrote hours later. “₦1.8m is needed to make his dreams come true.”

In a latest update, Monye  announced that the money had been successfully crowdfunded.
