The Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Al Mandoos, has said the Dubai Expo 2020 will add value to African countries.
TheNewsGuru reports that it is scheduled to be a World Expo to be hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, originally scheduled for 20 October 2020 – 10 April 2021. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Arab Emirates, the new dates are 1 October 2021 – 31 March 2022. Despite being postponed, organizers will keep the name Expo 2020 for marketing and branding purposes. It is the first time that a World Exposition has been postponed to a later date rather than cancelled.
In an interview with The TLiG Review Show, UAE Consulate General to Nigferia averred that the purpose of the expo is to bring participating countries together under one umbrella.
“The purpose is to bring all the countries together and bring them under one umbrella. The purpose is to exchange knowledge and innovations. Another purpose is to exchange culture between UAE and other participating countries”.
Speaking further, Al Mandoos noted that it would be an opportunity for African countries like Nigeria to showcase what they have to the world.
“Dubai Expo 2020 is an opportunity for African countries to showcase what they have to the world. It would be a big opportunity for them to leverage on technology from other parts of the world and bring it to Africa”.
On how the expo will add value to other neighboring countries, he said: “The expo will add value to not only UAE but to other countries. This expo is not only to promote Dubai or promote technology, is also to bring the cultures from all over the world under one umbrella to meet via this platform.It will be beneficial to other neighboring countries. It will help them promote the opportunities they have”.
