Final resting place of the late Nigeria’s music legend, Onyeka Onwenu has been disclosed as her obsequies revealed she would be laid to rest today in Lagos State. A service of songs will hold at Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju in Lagos, before the burial.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Onyeka Onwenu will be buried at Ebony Vaults, Ikoyi, a memorial park established to provide befitting final resting place for beloved ones when they eventually pass away.

Findings reveal that a basic single vault at Ebony Vaults costs a minimum of N12 million, while a premium vault tops N35 million. Tombstone at the memorial park ranges from N750,000 to N1.3 million. These figures were quoted by Ebony Vaults in 2023.

Recall Onwenu died on July 30, 2024, aged 72, at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja, after collapsing following her performance at the birthday party of Dr Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

In an opinion piece in 2021, Onwenu, survived by two sons, had revealed how she will prefer to be buried. “Do it quickly, quietly and privately,” she said at the time.

She began her music career in the 1980s and released her debut album, “For the Love of You,” in 1981. She released numerous albums and singles, including the hit song, “One Love”. Onwenu also acted in several Nollywood films and won numerous awards for her contributions to music and film.

In addition to her entertainment career, Onwenu was also involved in politics. She was appointed as the Chairperson of the Imo State Council for Arts and Culture in 2013 and later became the Director-General of the National Centre for Women Development in 2016.

She was awarded the National Honours of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) in 2011.
