This comes after a viral video of a police armored tank captured dispersing a sparse number of protesters participating against the ongoing #hunger protest in the state ‘ran over a policeman’.

The affected ‘policeman’, dressed in green uniform, wielding a weapon, was captured in a pool of blood, lying on the ground as onlookers surrounded him in an attempt to resuscitate him.

The X handler @DEGEO7 had captioned the video: “In the peak of unprofessionalism, a careless policeman killed his colleague and harmed civilians in Katsina.”

Reacting, the state police spokesperson, Aliyu on Saturday said the Nigeria Police Force does not have any record of such incident.

The Katsina police spokesperson said, “First of all, that is not a policeman from the way he is dressed and we do not also have such a dress code in the police.

“Secondly, the way things went on Thursday, during the protest, it is expected to see a heavy presence of security.

“So, I do not see where a policeman would be lying motionless and the security personnel would not come to their rescue at that particular moment.

“In a nutshell, that incident did not happen in Katsina. It was a mischievous attempt to undermine the efforts of security agencies, particularly the police command in Katsina because we didn’t record any incident like that.”
