Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham, and Erling Haaland have all been nominated for the 2024Laureus World Sports Awards Awards
The 25th Laureus World Sports Awards is slated to hold on April 22, 2024.
The nominations were unveiled on Monday in Madrid, Spain.
The current holder of the award would slug it out with two other contenders for this year’s plaque.
However, the two footballers have to see off competition from Novak Djokovic, Mondo Duplantis, Noah Lyles and Max Verstappen.
Haaland’s club Manchester City, who won the Treble last season, is up for the Laureus World Team of the Year award.
Other teams nominated include the European Ryder Cup team, the Springboks South African rugby team, Spain’s women’s football team, Germany’s men’s basketball team and the Oracle Red Bull Racing team.
Real Madrid midfielder, Jude Bellingham, has been nominated for the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year award.
Bellingham has competition from Scottish middle distance runner Josh Kerr, talented tennis teenager Coco Gauff, Chinese swimmer Qin Haiyang and fellow footballers Linda Caicedo and Salma Paralluelo who impressed at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
