Lucy Abagi appointed CEO of PPDC

The Board of Directors of Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC), an NGO, has announced the appointment of Mrs Lucy Abagi as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the centre. The Chairman of the board, Mr Chibuzor Ekwekwo, announced the appointment in a statement in Abuja on Saturday.

Ekwekwo said that Agbaji succeeded Mr Jubril Shittu, a development professional and a seasoned humanitarian, whose tenure was marked with remarkable achievements. He said that Abagi brings extensive experience in public policy development, programme management and fundraising to her new role.

The chairman explained that before assuming this position, she successfully led the organisation’s business development, innovation hub, and technology teams as Director of Partnerships and Innovation.

“Her strategic approach to partnerships and her passion for innovative solutions have been instrumental in expanding PPDC’s impact across Nigeria and in the new effort to re-establish PPDCs footprints in the African Continent.

“Prior to joining PPDC, Abagi served as Director of Programs at Connected Development (CODE), where she spearheaded the renowned Follow the Money campaign, securing funding for social impact initiatives across nine African countries.

“Her work positively impacted the lives of about four million people in rural communities. This was possible through partnerships with leading foundations such as Open Society Initiative for West Africa, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Luminate, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, and USAID,” the chairman said.

Ekwekwo  explained that as PPDC’s new CEO, Abagi would focus on empowering citizens through improved access to justice, innovative storytelling, and digital rights advocacy. He added that she would be expected to also build on the foundation laid by her predecessor and drive the organisation towards new heights of impact.

“We congratulate Lucy and thank Shittu for his service to PPDC and wish him well in all of his future endeavours,” Ekwekwo said.
