The increase of the international passport fees by the Federal Government has caused a stir on social media.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) earlier reports that the spokesperson for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) DCI Kenneth Udo, in a statement on Wednesday night stated that the revision aims to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.

According to Udo, the fee for a 32-page passport booklet with a 5-year validity will rise from N35,000 to N50,000, while the cost for a 64-page passport booklet with a 10-year validity will increase from N70,000 to N100,000.

However, Udo noted that the fees for passport issuance will remain unchanged for Nigerians in the diaspora.

Following the increase in the international passport new fee, Nigerians have taken to social media, to express their displeasure.

I recommend reviewing the pricing strategy and considering a reversal of, at the very aleast, a delayed effective date of January 1 2025.”
